Pacific Glory

Pacific Glory is the official convention rose for the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS) Regional Convention in Palmerston North from November 22nd to 27th 2013.

The rose was donated to the organising committee by breeder Rob Somerfield of Glenavon Roses in Tauranga. It is a floribunda rose with blooms of lavender pink, medium to tall growing and very healthy. It was a Gold Star of the South Pacific winner at the NZRS trial grounds in Palmerston North in 2006 and was a Bronze Medal winner at the rose trials in Adelaide. It is bred from Anniversary x Sky Tower.

A competition was held to select a name and from 145 names entered, Pacific Glory was selected and announced at the National Spring Rose Show held in Levin November 17th and 18th 2012.

The name Pacific Glory was submitted by Derrol & Helen White from the Northland Rose Society. They were thrilled with their win and receive six rose bushes bred by Rob Somerfield, including one of the convention rose in winter 2013. 200 plants will be on sale at the convention next year and then sold commercially in the years after that.
